Madelyn Conlin-Day is an American multimedia artist adopted from Saigon, Vietnam. Their work explores the intrinsic knowledge of identity that comes from biological family and inherited culture. Her studio practice involves repetition as a form of meditation and mindfulness when reflecting on unanswerable questions about their adoption and identity. In understanding someone does not need a complete picture of their origin to understand who they are, Madelyn’s vision of self is often visualized through who she is in the present and what they can become.
